Jeet Kune Do is Bruce Lee’s philosophy for martial training which translates to “The Way of the Intercepting Fist” and like Bruce said, “it is just a name”, not necessarily a system or art.
Jeet Kune Do is a way to create YOUR system, YOUR art that works with your body type. JKD martial artists are required to seek and explore different arts and train them. To find the best instructors in varying arts, taking a few tools learned and making them your own. This concept is the nucleus of Jeet Kune Do.
In the process of determining what to adapt that is useful, there are principles and arts that have proven to be such over time and they stick around. Those arts are included in Contemporary Jeet Kune Do.
As violence evolves we must adapt with it to be strong human beings. We play our part in progressing the arts by applying our creativity and martial foundations, exploring and testing new techniques as our times and necessity dictate.
